The events calendar offers a varied program that includes initiatives dedicated to art and culture, sporting events, theatrical performances, and shows of various kinds.

Pienza is always beautiful. This statement may seem a little cliché and the adjective too generic, but it’s true and has the virtue of simplicity. There is no season and no time of day when Pienza doesn’t display all its harmony and inspire peace, contentment and a sense of balance in every observer.

The Fiera del Cacio in Pienza (Pienza Cheese Fair), created and promoted in the 1960s by Maestro Dario Formichi, President of the Pro Loco, has three very important souls.

The Corsa di Pio

Don’t be surprised to see runners wearing jute tunics racing through the streets of Pienza on the third Sunday in September.

Monticchiello “is” Teatro Povero (Poor Theatre) and is probably unique on a worldwide level.

From 1969 to 2004, Mario Luzi, one of the intellectuals who most characterised the 20th century with his thinking and his artistic work, spent the summer in Pienza, from 15 July to 15 September.

Twice a year, between late May and early June and in November, Pienza hosts the Literary Emporium. This event is dedicated to books, publishing and the passion for reading and it also has some unique features that make it much-loved by the public.
